From the top of the dune I observe tufts of beach grass undulating to the incessant blasts of wind. Salt saturates the air, a briny scent permeating everything in this rugged terrain. In frothy tumult, the waves unfurl from the high sea, scarcely slowed by the wind’s attempted rebuffs. Whitecaps flock across the water, and the horizon has veiled itself in a scarf of mist to perfect this vibrant tableau. In this universe at times pastel, at times monochromatic, the blustering roar drowns out any silence. The water’s turbulence jumbles abstract-patterned shapes.
The real and the imaginary intertwine in an immense effervescence. In a game of opposites, fury battles tranquillity, the lack of light softens contrasts and heightens colours, the harsh environment accentuates the poetry of the moment.
Sand intermittently gusts, as though trying to discourage me. The elements seem hostile and yet the spectacle invites contemplation.
My gaze is lost in spouts of sea spray, the rhythm of the swells pulsates through me, engulfing me in serenity, making me supremely aware of how alive I am.
Elements plunges the viewer into an organic dreamscape that is constantly shifting, producing light and ambiance at times serene, at times dramatic. Where lines and colours in their purest forms take us back to the origins of wonder.
